Hello everyone! This week we will be adding an awesome<br />
American favorite to a bagel.<span id="more-152"></span> The Chili Cheeseburger. This sandwich will consist of an everything bagel, a fresh handmade 6oz. hamburger, some homemade chili, fresh grilled onions, and a heavenly slice of fresh Monterey Jack cheese. Man is this gonna be good&#8230;.<br />
Let&#8217;s get started. Today I will start by making some homemade tomato sauce in order to make my homemade chili. You can use your favorite canned chili. I am feeling a need to make chili.<br />
<div id="attachment_168" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 360px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/1chili.jpg" alt="Browning the ground beef" title="1chili" width="350" height="262" class="size-full wp-image-168" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Browning the ground beef</p></div><div id="attachment_169" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 360px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/2chili.jpg" alt="Stir in the seasonings, tomato sauce and dark red kidney beans." title="2chili" width="350" height="262" class="size-full wp-image-169" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Stir in the seasonings, tomato sauce and dark red kidney beans.</p></div>
<p>While the chili simmers, let&#8217;s toast us a bagel of your choice. I am using the everything bagel. Once again the freshest bagel I could find at my local supermarket. I will also begin cooking the 6oz. handmade hamburger.<br />
<div id="attachment_172" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 360px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/1burger.jpg" alt="Handmade 6oz. hamburger" title="1burger" width="350" height="262" class="size-full wp-image-172" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Handmade 6oz. hamburger</p></div><div id="attachment_173" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 360px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/2burger.jpg" alt="Time for some Monterey Jack Cheese" title="2burger" width="350" height="262" class="size-full wp-image-173" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Time for some Monterey Jack Cheese</p></div><br />
Alright! The bagel is toasted. We&#8217;ll do it in layers. Let&#8217;s throw a slice of Monterey Jack cheese on the bottom half of our toasted bagel. Then put a nice dollop of homemade chili on top of the Monterey Jack cheese.<br />
<div id="attachment_176" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 360px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/bagel-an-cheese.jpg" alt="Toasted with a slice of Monterey" title="bagel-an-cheese" width="350" height="262" class="size-full wp-image-176" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Toasted with a slice of Monterey</p></div><div id="attachment_177" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 360px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/a-dollop.jpg" alt="A nice dollop of homemaade chili" title="a-dollop" width="350" height="262" class="size-full wp-image-177" /><p class="wp-caption-text">A nice dollop of homemaade chili</p></div><br />
Add the cheeseburger to this masterpiece, another small dollop of homemade chili, some fresh grilled onions and I think we got ourselves a really messy Tex-Mex sandwich. &#8220;The Chili Cheeseburger Bagel Sandwich&#8221;<br />
<div id="attachment_179" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 360px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/1ontop.jpg" alt="Another dollop a top this trusty burger" title="1ontop" width="350" height="262" class="size-full wp-image-179" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Another dollop a top this trusty burger</p></div><div id="attachment_180" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 360px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/finished.jpg" alt="Bon appetit!" title="finished" width="350" height="262" class="size-full wp-image-180" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Bon appetit!</p></div><br />
Enjoy this one, and bring some napkins. Your gonna need em&#8217;!</p>

<p>Today, I have decided to bring a dish that was a favorite in the movie<span id="more-140"></span> <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081480/">&#8220;Seems Like Old Times&#8221;</a>. In this movie, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000443/">Goldie Hawn</a> and <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001301/">Charles Grodin</a>(Goldie&#8217;s present hubby) have a housekeeper named Aurora. She makes a dish called &#8220;Aurora&#8217;s Famous Chicken Pepperoni&#8221; that later ends up being served by <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000331/">Chevy Chase</a>(Goldie&#8217;s first hubby and escaped, framed convict) to a judge that is a guest at Goldie and Charles house. Very funny flick. Check it out if you&#8217;ve never seen it. I recommend watching it again just because it is funny.</p>
<p>Enough with the movie and on with the sandwich of the week. &#8220;Aurora&#8217;s Chicken Pepperoni Bagel Sandwich&#8221; Once again, we&#8217;ll need to go out and get the freshest bagel you can find at your local supermarket. Today I am using a whole grain bagel. 1 Weaver frozen chicken cutlet, 2 slices mozzarella, 6-8 slices of pepperoni, a little tomato sauce, some Romano cheese and some crushed red pepper to add a little flair.<br />
<div id="attachment_145" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 330px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/ingredients.jpg" alt="Fresh bagel, pepperoni, mozzarella, chicken cutlet, tomato sauce, Romano cheese and crushed red pepper." title="ingredients" width="320" height="240" class="size-full wp-image-145" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Fresh bagel, pepperoni, mozzarella, chicken cutlet, tomato sauce, Romano cheese and crushed red pepper.</p></div><br />
We start by slicing and toasting our bagel. While the bagel is toasting, I like to wrap the chicken cutlet in a paper towel, then microwave for 90 seconds. This is also a good time to warm your tomato sauce. By now the bagel should be toasted. I like to butter the bottom half of the bagel. Pile on the pepperoni, a slice of mozzarella and a little sauce. On the top half, I add the warmed chicken cutlet, a little tomato sauce and another slice of mozzarella. Sprinkle some Romano cheese and the crushed red pepper.<br />
<div id="attachment_147" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/ready-for-the-nuker-300x225.jpg" alt="ready-for-the-nuker" title="ready-for-the-nuker" width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-147" /><p class="wp-caption-text">ready-for-the-nuker</p></div><div id="attachment_148" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/finished-nuked-300x225.jpg" alt="Cheese is melted." title="finished-nuked" width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-148" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Cheese is melted.</p></div><br />
Place both halves on a microwave safe plate and cook high power for 45 seconds or until the cheese is melted. Put both halves together and you now have an extraordinary sandwich to enjoy.<br />

<p>Today I have decided to take a classic sandwich, like <span id="more-103"></span>the Turkey and Cheese, and put it on one of my favorite bagels. An Everything bagel. What made this sandwich stand out was the flavors of the everything bagel that just absolutely make this turkey and cheese a new favorite. I can&#8217;t tell if it&#8217;s the garlic, the onion, the poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or any of the other spices embedded into an Everything Bagel. So here it is, &#8220;The Turkey &#038; Cheese is Everything Bagel&#8221; It&#8217;s a bit lengthy for a sandwich name but, The wonderful flavors that dance on your pallet will last much longer than the sandwich itself.</p>
<div id="attachment_107" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5757-300x225.jpg" alt="Cut the Everything bagel in half and lightly toast" title="dscn5757" width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-107" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Cut the Everything bagel in half and lightly toast</p></div><div id="attachment_106" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5760-300x225.jpg" alt="Fresh oven roasted turkey, American cheese, Romaine lettuce, Everything Bagel" title="dscn5760" width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-106" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Fresh oven roasted turkey, American cheese, Romaine lettuce, Everything Bagel</p></div>
<div id="attachment_110" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5761-300x225.jpg" alt="Butter the bottom half of the Everything bagel, it&#039;s way better than mayonaise." title="dscn5761" width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-110" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Butter the bottom half of the Everything bagel, it's way better than mayonaise.</p></div><div id="attachment_111" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5763-300x225.jpg" alt="I like to layer the turkey and cheese. Some turkey, some cheese, some more turkey, some more cheese </p></div>
<div id="attachment_118" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5764-300x225.jpg" alt="Pile on the Lettuce" title="dscn5764" width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-118" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Pile on the Lettuce</p></div><div id="attachment_119" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 330px"><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5766.jpg" alt="Enjoy!!!" title="dscn5766" width="320" height="240" class="size-full wp-image-119" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Enjoy!!!</p></div>
<p>I didn&#8217;t add fresh onion or tomato because it is my taste. You can add whatever you like. But I found that due to all the flavors that the Everything bagel provides is really quite amazing. I suggest you try it the way we have created it here. This way, it still leaves any of your future bagel adventures open to suggestions. Mom always said,&#8221;taste it before you salt it&#8221;. You know what I mean.</p>

<p>This week, I thought I would take a childhood favorite and add <span id="more-76"></span>a bagel to it. When I was a kid, my brothers and I would cook our own eggs. My brother Jimmy taught me how to make an elephant egg. Which everyone else on the planet called an egg in a raft. So he took this piece of bread and he knocks out a hole in the middle and fried an egg in it. It was delicious. He would also grill the knocked out piece of bread to soak up the yoke with. He called it an elephant egg. I think he called it that because the bread around the egg made it look like a big fried egg. So&#8230; enough with the history and on with the egg sandwich of the week. Hopefully a famous bagel sandwich.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s start out again by picking up the freshest bagel you can find at your local grocery store. I am using a plain bagel because that&#8217;s what I fancy, you can choose any bagel you find palatable. I wouldn&#8217;t go as far as to use a blueberry bagel, but&#8230; you know, knock yourself out.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-83" title="dscn5749" src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5749-300x225.jpg" alt="dscn5749" width="300" height="225" /><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-84" title="dscn5751" src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5751-300x225.jpg" alt="dscn5751" width="300" height="225" /><br />
So the first thing we need to do is basically cut a round piece of bread out of the middle of this bagel. Now you want to do this without destroying the whole bagel. What we are really looking to do is get three bagel slices out of one bagel. Two ends and one middle. The middle is what we intend to use to knock a hole in the middle. I am using a round cookie cutter. You can use any shape you want, just remember you have to drop an egg in the center and preferably for me, with yolk in tact. I am also adding two thin slices of fried <a href="http://www.spam.com/ ">Spam</a>. You can use bacon, sausage, or any other slice of heaven you find as a compliment to your egg sandwich.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ll need a big enough pan to grill the egg and bagel top and bottom, or two pans work if you grill the bottom in one pan while you cook the egg and raft in another pan. You can grill the top while you flip and fry the egg and raft.</p>
<p><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5773-300x225.jpg" alt="dscn5773" title="dscn5773" width="300" height="225" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-94" /><img src="http://auntibagel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/dscn5774-300x225.jpg" alt="dscn5774" title="dscn5774" width="300" height="225" class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-95" /></p>
<p>If you grill your bagels to a golden brown over medium heat, your egg yolk will be nice and runny. Be careful, this sandwich has been know to explode on first or second bites, so be prepared and please enjoy.</p>
